Project Description Examples for Resumes
Write credible resume project descriptions that explain the problem, your contribution, tools and truthful result.
A resume project description should explain what the project does, your role, the relevant tools, important decisions and a verified result. Focus on your contribution rather than describing the entire team’s work as your own.
A four-part project bullet
Use action + contribution + tools or constraint + result. Example pattern: “Designed the responsive registration flow in React, added client-side validation and documented setup for the project team.”
When you do not have metrics
Describe a concrete capability, technical constraint, quality improvement or deliverable. Metrics are useful only when they are real. “Added keyboard navigation to all primary controls” is specific without a number.
Team projects
State the project’s shared goal, then make your individual role explicit. Mention collaboration where relevant, but do not take credit for a teammate’s contribution.

Link when the repository is public, understandable and represents your work well. Review it for secrets and personal data first.
How many bullets per project?
Two to four focused bullets are often enough. Prefer relevant details over a fixed count.
Can coursework count as a project?
Yes, when it demonstrates relevant skills and your contribution is clearly explained.
